TAG Heuer: Company Overview

Understanding the foundation and market position of the luxury automotive market worldwide.

he Beginning of TAG Heuer – Born from Obsession with Time –

The story of TAG Heuer begins in 1860 in Switzerland. A young guy named Edouard Heuer started a workshop where he made watches. At first TAG Heuer was not about making things. Edouard Heuer was really into figuring out how to measure time. He wanted TAG Heuer to be the best at measuring time better, than anyone.

At that time watches were really slow and not very accurate. Edouard Heuer thought that time could be controlled and measured in a way. He believed that watches could be improved a lot. This idea of Edouard Heuer became the starting point of what turned into one of the most respected Swiss luxury watch brands, like the ones Edouard Heuer envisioned. From day one, TAG Heuer was not about decoration. It was about performance.

Innovation Came Before Fame

People did not know about this thing until it became famous. The truth is that innovation came before fame. The innovation came first and it was a cool thing then the fame came later because of the innovation. Edouard Heuer came up with the oscillating pinion in 1887. This changed chronographs forever. Even today, modern chronographs still use this idea.

TAG Heuer watches became faster, smoother, and easier to repair. While other brands played safe, TAG Heuer pushed progress. This mindset separated TAG Heuer from the rest of the Swiss watch industry.
